AT&T Broadband Workers Ratify 3 Contracts in Florida & California
Two of the Agreements Were Workers' First Union Contracts at Company
CWA members and cable workers at three AT&T Broadband units in California and Florida recently voted to ratify (or approve) new contracts with the company. Here is a rundown:
- A contract was negotiated and ratified by workers for cable employees in the Bay Area (CA), guarantees wage increases of 3.75 percent in the first two years and 3.0 percent in the final year. The workers’ first increase is retroactive to March 1, 2002.
- Cable workers in Hialeah (FL) voted to approve their first-ever negotiated contract with the company. It assures a 7.5 percent merit increase on July 1, plus an across-the-board 3.5 percent increase on March 1, 2003. Included are full benefits, a grievance procedure, promotion language and contracting-out protection.
- Another first union agreement for workers at AT&T Broadband was reached and approved by workers in Fresno (CA). It grants employees a 3.5 percent wage hike retroactive to March 1, plus a 3.5 percent increase in 2003, and 3.0 percent in 2004. The contract calls for automatic promotions when time-in-grade has been served and tests have been passed.
