Comcast Techs in Pittsburgh Vote to Stay Union

For the past 4 years management has been telling cableworkers in Pittsburgh that we don't need a union; and for four years we have been telling management that it's our right and our choice.

We made that choice again on June 16, and we're sticking with our union! Over 90 percent of the 400 workers here voted in the election, and 62 percent voted to keep our union and our right to be able to bargain for improvements with management.

This is the third union election for many of us and we are pleased that CWA has stuck with us through thick and thin. We have not yet paid a penny in dues but our union has worked to improve things: workers fired unfairly have gotten their jobs back, and we helped roll back improper health care increases and got many of us refunds. We are the only workers at Comcast who still get three percent of our wages paid by Comcast into a pension plan. Things will change for the better as we move forward but I think everyone is happy that we have stuck together and voted to work together as a union.
